Frequently Asked Questions: Read these first!

How much does it cost to hire you?

Instead of thinking in terms of cost, think of a website as an investment. That's what it is.

A professional website is a strong investment which, when combined with a great product or service, will pay off year after year for the entire life of a business.

Our charges vary depending on your individual needs and requirements, and we'll be happy to give you a quote once we've discussed what it is you're looking for.

I know someone who charges less. Can you match them?

No: Design is not a commodity.

“ A commodity is anything for which there is demand, but which is supplied without qualitative differentiation across a market. In other words, copper is copper. Rice is rice. Stereos, on the other hand, have many levels of quality. And, the better a stereo is, the more it will cost. ” — Wikipedia

In the same way that a client chooses the designer they work with, the designer also chooses the client. As professional designers, we choose to only work with those who value the service provided.

How long does it take to complete a website?

This varies a lot depending on what you require — for example an online store would take significantly longer than a simple portfolio — but generally, simpler websites take three to four weeks to design and develop. More complex websites, such as those integrating a content management system, e-commerce or bespoke requirements usually take three to six months to complete, depending on how complex and unusual your requirements are.

How soon can you start?

We can usually start almost immediately. We make sure to only take on two or three clients at a time in order to make sure we can commit the time necessary to fully develop a project in a reasonable timeframe. If we're full when you contact us, we'll let you know when we expect to be available, or we can steer you towards other reputable design studios if you're on a tight deadline.

I'm a non-UK client. Will this cause any problems?

Not at all. The majority of our clients are in fact businesses in the US, and we've worked with clients from Canada to Australia.

We're used to communicating with our clients through email, and we'll keep you up to date with everything in real time just as if you were local to us.

If you're outside of the EU, you'll also pay less, as tax won't be included in our rates.

How do you accept payment?

Generally we accept payment by BACS/wire, although we can also accept cheque/check or PayPal. Our invoices include all the details necessary to pay by wire transfer.

For small projects (under £750, or $1,000) we charge 50% upfront and the remainder on completion. For most other projects, we typically use a 40% upfront, 30% on completion of design, and 30% on completion of development ready to go live. For very large projects, we'll customise payments according to specific development milestones.
